Beyond cosmetic facial gua sha and cupping
Beyond "cosmetic" facial gua sha and cupping takes you on a journey touching on the effects of aging from the perspective of traditional Chinese Medicine, western anatomy , and what you can do with gua sha, cupping and lymphatic massage to slow it down. Your overall health effects your appearance and your facial landscape. We go beyond the superficial and also address the causes contributing the signs of aging. We will discuss traditional 5 element theory as it pertains to facial signs of aging. You will learn some facial muscle anatomy. You will be able to give yourself lymphatic drainage, facial gua sha and facial cupping. Each participant will be given feedback on their specific needs if so desired. This will be a combination of lecture and practical application.

Learn what a Chinese medical diagnosis means. Learn how combining acupuncture with western medicine and talk therapy can magnify your progress.
Cultural differences can make the concepts of Chinese medicine confusing. This class will demystify basic theory behind TCM. (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Come and experience how to gain information through observation, by experiencing examination modalities such as pulse and tongue. You will learn why acupuncturists talk about “organs” in a different way than western medical providers. You will learn what a meridian is as well as what an acupuncture point is. We will touch on aspects of how emotions are considered in TCM.

With 12 years of experience as an orthodontic assistant before becoming a nationally certified acupuncturist, Stephanie Selman, L.Ac. brings a unique perspective to oral health, facial structure, and patient comfort. In practice since 1994, she holds advanced certification in Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture with specialized training in facial pain reduction, TMJ dysfunction, and tension-related disorders.
In this continuing education workshop, participants will:

Auricular Acupressure
Auricular acupuncture has been used in the US since the early 1970's when it was found to be effective in reducing the symptoms of withdrawal. Since that time, its use has slowly become popular. Acupressure in this tiny area can be beneficial for physical as well as emotional challenges. In this class you will learn anatomy of the auricle (outer ear) as well as the locations and uses of effective points for issues such as anxiety, repressed emotions, pain, and digestive upset.

Introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine, or TCM, is a medical system unto itself with amazing depth. The big obstacle for western learners is the shift in perspective. This shift takes time. These classes were created with you in mind. You may be a patient of TCM or you may be a western provider with patients who are receiving treatment from a licensed acupuncturist. Join us for an experiential adventure that will broaden your perspective.

Equine Anatomy & Acupressure
In this customized set of classes learn about your equine friend's skeletal anatomy, basic TCM theory, qi gong, acupressure protocols for what ails your large friend, as well as the most common health issues equines face that can be aided with acupressure or acupuncture.

Dog Anatomy & Acupressure
In this customized set of classes learn about your dogs skeletal anatomy, basic TCM theory, qi gong, acupressure protocols for what ails your pup, as well as the most common health issues dogs face that can be aided with acupressure or acupuncture.

What are acupuncture meridians?
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complex system of medicine. There are many approaches to diagnosis as well as treatment. The use of acupuncture meridians is one of those approaches. The word is well known, but the meaning is not broadly understood. In this class we will clarify what is meant by a meridian, how it is used therapeutically and diagnostically.

Korean Hand Acupressure
In this 3 hour class learn what a micro-system is. Learn to identify, locate and safely treat musculo-skeletal discomfort through the use of Korean hand acupressure as an adjunct to massage. To accomplish this you will learn the micro-system of the hand and some traditional Chinese medical theory. You will have hands on experience in point finding and pellet placement.

Chinese Essence Qi Gong
Stephanie studied Soaring Crane Qi Gong for 4 years with Master Chen Fu Yin. She then traveled to Beiijing China to study Chinese Essence Qi Gong
Chinese Essence Qigong is a gentle moving meditation that weaves slow, flowing movements to harmonize Qi throughout the body. By balancing energy between the organs and releasing stagnation, the practice supports mental clarity, encouraging the body’s natural healing capacity. A central focus of Essence Qigong is building and preserving vitality by supporting healthy rhythms of work, rest, sleep, and replenish energy over time. Generally suitable for adults, it offers a grounded, nourishing practice for cultivating long-term wellbeing.
